Common Issues
UNDERBITE
An underbite is where the lower jaw extends out which causes the lower teeth to sit out in front of the upper teeth.
SPACING
Spacing can be a cosmetic or aesthetic problem and is usually caused by missing teeth.
UPPER FRONT TEETH PROTRUSION
With this type of bite, function and appearance is effected. This issue is caused by the lower teeth not extending forward far enough and the upper teeth extending forward too far.
CROWDING
When there is not enough room for teeth to erupt through the gums, crowding occurs. Tooth removal can generally be avoided through the use of expansion correction.
CROSSBITE
This occurs when the lower teeth sit outside the upper teeth. This can lead to jaw misalignment and stratification of teeth.
OVERBITE
This is where the upper front teeth protrude beyond the lower front teeth, in some cases this will cause the lower teeth to bite in to the roof of your mouth.
OPENBITE
Lower and upper front teeth do not overlap and correct chewing is effected. Tongue thrusting is just one of the unwanted habits which can be caused by openbite.
DENTAL MIDLINES NOT MATCHED
This issue is where the back bite does not fit or match properly, it can effect proper dental function and can also impact the jaw negatively.
